Date with Mase

I've decided that we need to start doing a little more one on one time with the boys, so on Friday I decided to take Mason out on a date. We had so much fun and it is crazy how different he is when it's just he and I. He just seems so much more grown up! We started out our date with a trip to Old Navy for a new outfit. Mason is going to be my little fashion guy! He loves clothes and saved his own money for a new outfit which he picked out all on his own. And I have to say that I was quite impressed with his choice! He has also recently started to ask to do his own hair. So I gave him a crash coarse and he actually does a great job! At least I'll have one that likes shopping and hair :) After shopping we headed over to Red Robin for some lunch and of coarse a chocolate milk shake. We had so much fun just chatting about anything and everything . . . oh and we also played a few mean rounds of tic tac toe while waiting for our food! I can't wait for our next date (and neither can he . . . he is already telling me I need to take Griff on a date so it can be his turn again!)

Second Chance 5K

Last weekend I ran my first 5K. I say ran . . . but must admit there was a little walking involved as well. I never thought I would be the type to enjoy running, but when you are doing it for a good cause and with your sisters it's actually pretty fun! The second chance run is a charity run for donors and their families. My best friend from high school, Mandee had a heart transplant the summer after senior year and now her and her donor family get together every year to put this together. This was my first year participating but I plan on making it a yearly tradition!

Daxon's 1st Birthday

I really can't believe that my baby is already one! Time has just flown right by and it makes me a little sad that he's not a baby anymore! Dax has been such a happy, lovey little guy and I can't imagine life without him!

We had a little frog themed party for him . . . I think the big boys were more excited than Dax was, but he had fun and didn't mind letting his brothers help with the presents ( griff had a pretty rough time understanding that they were for Dax and couldn't figure out why Dax got to play with everything first!)

Favorite present of the night!

Spoiled . . .

Family shot :)

The Cake . . .

At first he used his hands, but soon figured he'd do it the easy way!

Just a couple cute shots of my one year old!

I just wanted to remember a few things about Dax when he turned one!
*He has the biggest smile ever!
*He says dada and mama . . . but mostly dada
*He points to things he wants
*He wants to be a big boy and wants to eat big boy food . . . no baby food unless he doesn't have another option!
*He has 6 teeth
*He loves to be outside and on the 4wheeler
*He is pulling up on things but not quite walking (thank goodness!)
*He LOVES water and especially when I let him play in the bath without his bath seat
*He weighs 20 lbs. (15%) and didn't gain anything since his 9 month checkup . . . weird! I promise he eats!
*He gives the best loves and seems to just know when one is needed
*He sleeps through the night (when his ears aren't bothering him)
*He's had an ear infection for almost the entire last 4-5 months . . . but still remains happy!
We are so happy to have Dax in our family and excited to see how he changed and grows in the next year! Love you!!

Haircut

Daxon had his first haircut today. He did great! Much better than I expected actually. I guess It's pretty easy to keep an 11 month entertained with a few random bottles of hair stuff and a running faucet!

BEFORE

AFTER

(kind of hard to tell because his hair is so light, but I actually cut quite a

bit off the sides and the back!)

Yuck.

This is what was going on all day today at our house! Boo. I mean REALLY . . . it's the middle of April and I'm ready for SPRING!!

Easter

We had a GREAT Easter this year. On Saturday we headed up to Logan to have an early Easter with my Mom and sisters. The kids had a blast doing Easter crafts and finding eggs.

Sunday we stayed home and had Easter morning at our house and spent the afternoon at Kasey's grandparents. The boys were sooo excited when they woke up to find that not only had the Easter bunny hid their eggs, but he had also made a trail of eggs from their bedrooms out to the garage leading to these . . .

Their reactions were priceless . . . Mason was sooo excited to have a real 4-wheeler and Griff was just as excited about the power wheel version. We spent pretty much the rest of the day outside figuring them out and had so much fun! Dax was asleep during all the excitement but did wake up in time for a yummy breakfast of strawberry crepes ( called rollers around here ) and got to dig into his Easter basket. He thought the sunglasses were so funny and kept trying to take them on and off and would laugh each time.

Tonsils

Griff had his tonsils and adenoids out on Monday. We had to be there at 7:30 am, he went into surgery around 8:30 and was done by 9:00. Not bad, but its still so hard to send your little guy with the nurses and not be able to be in the room to comfort him. The doctor said he did great and was glad we took the adenoids out as well because they were HUGE! Coming out of anesthesia was sooo sad. The nurse called us back when he was alert enough to ask for us and I guess I wasn't really prepared for how upset he was going to be. He was thrashing around the bed, screaming and crying. It was so sad. I can't even imagine being a 2 year old and waking up from surgery to some strange nurses that are forcing an oxygen mask on his face and a popsicle in his mouth. Once I could hold him it didn't take long for him to calm down, although he wasn't happy about the IV, the oxygen mask, and especially the thing they put on toe to monitor his oxygen. He wanted that stupid thing off! We finally got to go home around noon and the first thing Griff asked for was chicken nuggets, fries, and a sprite! At this point his throat was pretty numb from the lidacane (sp??) and lower tab was also helping so he had no clue why he couldn't have it! He has done so good since we got home and has been eating Popsicle's, ice cream, cheese, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, and even ate spaghetti and green beans for dinner! Here are a few pictures of our little trooper!

Here he is in the cute little gown, ready to go

Waiting in the wagon for the nurse

On the ride home with his new bear from the nurses

This just about melted my heart! Griff had just been home a few minutes and was lying in my bed. Kasey came in with Dax and he immediately crawled over and onto griff and just layed his head on griffs chest. After a minute Griff wanted him off, so I moved him and Dax freaked out! He wanted his brother and knew he needed loves! He crawled right back over and this time stayed for a good 10 minutes! The whole time rubbing Griffs arm while griff rubbed Dax's head. This was seriously one of the sweetest moments as a mom to see my boys lovin each other and being so intuitive!Griff finally gave up and got some rest after a very long day!
